SunGard Transition and Impact on User ConferencesSunGard has realigned into two business units: K-12 Education and Local Government (which includes research foundations, not for profit groups, and colleges/universities). During the 2009 National Conference a vote was held concerning the future of the then-current BSNUG user group. Every site with an active BSNUG membership received two votes. Both measures concerned the re-purposing of the BSNUG Organization. #1 - Should the users' group organization currently known as "Bi-Tech Software National Users' Group" (BSNUG) be renamed as "SunGard Public Sector National Users' Group" (SNUG)? This measure passed with 89% of the voters in favor. #2 - Should "BSNUG" (or the renamed organization based on the ballot item above) re-purpose itself as the User Group Organization for SunGard Public Sector K-12 and thereby align itself with the K-12 division of SunGard Public Sector? This measure passed with 71% of the voters in favor. For those of you that voted, thank you for taking the time to weigh in on these very important and difficult issues. The renaming of the organization occured at the end of 2010 National Conference and the change in focus will occur gradually as the software product development begins to diverge between the two divisions. |
